Bananas

I've often wondered about sugar in bananas.

Supposdly an average banana has about 27 grams of carbohydrates.

6 am on the Las Vegas Strip

At 6 am on the Las Vegas strip if you want to get an internet connection and a cup of espresso you don’t have a lot of choices. The Krispy Kreme in the food court at the Excalibur hotel, on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue is the best location I’ve found.

The problem is the food choices. Three places are open, the Starbucks, the Krispy Kreme, and McDonalds. A muffin, a doughnut, or grease; that’s the extent of the options.

I’m just betting that the egg and sausage burrito at McDonalds is the safest bet, certainly high in fat and calories but at least without the carbs of the choices at Starbucks or Krispy Kreme.

Breakfast on the road

I'm in Las Vegas right now, covering the World Series of Poker, and the press room has a lot of muffins and sometimes sandwiches -- a lot of bread. My room has a microwave and refrigerator so I try to eat something in the morning that's real light on the carbs.

About 1/2 a cucumber, sliced, mixed with some low-fat sour cream, and a low carb tortilla with some butter, sweet-n-low and cinnamon, microwaved just a short time, seems to be about right for getting something in my stomach in the morning before I leave the room that doesn't have much carbs.
